This June 15, 1969 article which appeared in the Cleveland Plain Dealer illustrates some of the efforts made by the Shaker Historical Society in the 1960s to make the Shaker Heights community aware of the historically significant nineteenth century homes still standing in Shaker Heights. The home built by Asa and Chole Upson in 1836 at 19027 Chagrin Boulevard, featured on tours provided by the Shaker Historical Society in the 1960s, is the second oldest house in Shaker Heights.
