Daughter Named Dean

Daughter Named Dean
In 1970 Edith Wilkins stepped down from her role of Director, and passed the role on to her daughter Lucille Wilkins Francis. Francis, who had previously graduated with a degree in design and dressmaking from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and worked as a cosmetology specialist for Halle's department store, apprenticed at her mother's cosmetology school for ten years before she was appointed to this position. Although Edith Wilkins never really left Lucille completely alone, Lucille was the one that brought the school into its next phase of education and excellence. | Date: August 8, 1970 | Source: Cleveland Call and Post
