City Hospital

City Hospital
While the origins of City Hospital lie in the cholera epidemic of 1832 and the hospital created in 1837 on the grounds of Erie Street Cemetery, Cleveland's public hospital first officially became known as "City Hospital" in October 1889 when the building shown above, which was devoted exclusively to the treatment of patients, opened on the Scranton Road campus. This photo was taken shortly after construction of the building was completed.
