The first City Hospital building on the Scranton Road campus, Middle House was erected in 1855 at what today would be approximately 3405 Scranton Road on the MetroHealth campus. For this reason, that address has been designated as the geographical site of this story. Middle House was so named because of the maze of wings and annexes which were added to its two sides over the fifty plus years of its existence.
