Edison Phonograph and Kinetoscope Parlor

Edison Phonograph and Kinetoscope Parlor
An early noteworthy tenant in the Arcade was Thomas Edison’s Ohio Phonograph Company. The Edison Phonograph and Kinetoscope Parlor occupied a space near the Euclid Avenue entrance from 1890 until 1902 and appears in this detail from a 1901 photo. Rumors say that Thomas Edison would smash the windows of any retailers selling his phonograph machine without his permission, an invention for which he held the patent. | Creator: Detroit Publishing Company | Date: 1901 | Source: Library of Congress
