The Kentucky Street Reservoir

The Kentucky Street Reservoir
This lithograph of the reservoir was created by Scottish-American artist Robert Hinshelwood in 1872. Prominently shown in the painting is the famous promenade walk at the top of the reservoir. When construction of the reservoir was completed in 1856, it had the highest elevation of any man-made structure in the city of Cleveland. Visitors to the promenade walk contended that it provided a better view of the city than from any other location in the city. | Source: Cleveland Public Library, Photograph Collecction
